Speaking after Manchester United’s victory over Burnley, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed Brandon Williams’ performance.
What did he say?
The Red Devils overcame a notoriously tricky test at Turf Moor by brushing past Sean Dyche’s men 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League, thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
But whilst the forwards sealed the points for United, Solskjaer was quick to single out Williams for praise. As per Sofascore, the 19-year-old had an impressive 88% pass accuracy, provided two key passes and was fouled three times as he stood up to the physical test.

And speaking after the game, Solskjaer admitted that the 19-year-old has everything he needs to make it to the very top. He said (as quoted by The Independent): “He’s never let us down. He’s a top young kid, he’s got great attitude and confidence. He’s got everything a Man United kid should have. You’re never scared of putting Brandon in any type of game.”
High praise
Having deputised in Luke Shaw’s absence at left-back, Williams has already shown glimpses of what he can bring to the table if given a run of games for United. Still only a teenager, he has plenty of room to grow and great scope for improvement, and his start to life at Old Trafford only adds to the sense of encouragement and excitement.

Now it’s up to Solskjaer himself to place his trust in Williams and show that good performances will be rewarded with further game-time and more chances of a start. If he goes back to simply choosing the likes of Shaw and Ashley Young because they are more ‘safe’ options and offer greater experience, then his comments will all be for nothing.
Meanwhile, Manchester United could be plotting for life after this man with a swoop for this Premier League star.
