Aston Villa booked their spot in the third round of the EFL Cup courtesy of a thumping 6-1 win away to Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night.
As expected, head coach Dean Smith rung the changes from the team that started the 2-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League last time out.
And one of those to seriously benefit was Henri Lansbury.
Indeed, the midfielder contributed three assists during a very impressive performance – including an excellent flick to set up Jack Grealish in the latter stages.
Lansbury has not yet played a minute of Premier League football this season with Villa’s summer spending making it tough for the 28-year-old to earn a spot.
However, he was given the opportunity to impress against Crewe.

And it would be fair to say that a number of Villa fans were delighted with what they saw from the Englishman during the strong EFL Cup victory.
