According to the Chronicle, Newcastle are set to make a bid for Burnley stiker Andre Gray as they look to establish themselves as a Premier League club once again.
Gray only has one year remaining on his current deal at Turf Moor and reports have suggested he has rejected an extension, after being made aware of interest from other clubs.
One of these clubs is Newcastle, who are looking to add more firepower to their attacking ranks, which currently consist of Daryl Murphy, Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Perez and Aleksandr Mitrovic.
However, it is though that Burnley will want upwards of £15 million for their prized striker.
How good has Gray been this season?
While Andre Gray failed to match his incredible Championship goal-tally of the 2015/16 season, the 25-year-old has still had a very impressive season.
The Burnley man netted 10 times in all competitions and helped Burnley secure a second consecutive season in the Premier League for the first time in their history.
Despite some injury setbacks and personal issues, Gray managed to give very experience top flight defenders a torrid time with his searing pace and eye for goal.
Would Gray be a good fit for Newcastle?
While Rafa Benitez had arguably the most experienced and talented attacking group in the Championship this season, Newcastle’s first season back in the Premier League will be very different.
Andre Gray offers something fresh and exciting to the team and he would undoubtedly become a firm favourite with the Toon Army.
