According to the Mirror, Manchester United have asked Zinedine Zidane to snub any other job offers he may receive as they decide on the future of Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho has come under huge pressure recently after a run of poor results that ended with the 3-2 win over Newcastle at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Red Devils were 2-0 down within 10 minutes against the struggling Magpies, but Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez all netted in the last 20 minutes to buy their manager more time.
The pressure hasn’t been solely because of results and performances on the pitch though. The Portuguese boss has also had a number of public spats with key members of his team such as Paul Pogba and Sanchez, bringing the image of the club into disrepute.
Former Real Madrid manager Zidane though would be a huge gamble for United. Yes, he won the three Champions League titles but he is not the most experienced manager by any stretch and United’s defence and midfield needs completely overhauling. Someone like Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino would be a far better option as he could come in and build something for the long-term.
So, Manchester United fans, would you like to see Zidane take over from Mourinho? Have your say by voting in the poll below.
