Morgan Schniederlin joined Everton in the January of 2017 on a four-and-a-half-year deal for a fee that could rise to £24m. The move brought the Frenchman’s disastrous spell with Manchester United to an end and offered him the chance of a fresh start in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old, whom some Toffees fans on Twitter were hoping would depart over the summer, has been a regular for the Merseyside outfit since his arrival, however, his performances at Goodison Park have often left plenty to be desired and he certainly hasn’t rediscovered the kind of form that earned him his international caps and move to Old Trafford in the first place.

Despite this, Marco Silva has still seen fit to start Schneiderlin in three of the first four Premier League games of the new season. It looks as though Schneiderlin can expect to be heavily involved for the remainder of the campaign too given Everton’s relative dearth of alternatives in the defensive midfield position.
This is an area of the pitch in which Everton desperately need an upgrade. If the Merseyside club are serious about breaking into the top six, they must have a better central midfield set up than one including the declining Schneiderlin.
What do you think, Everton fans? Was Schneiderlin a smart signing who adds quality to your team or would not buying him in the first place have been a bullet dodged?
