Newcastle fans have long grown tired of getting their hopes up over news of reported takeovers, and it is likely that many won’t react to such news until it is confirmed that Mike Ashley has left the club.
There have been several takeover parties in the last year alone, with the latest an American company called GACP Sports Capital, who recently sold a stake in French club Bordeaux.

That hinted that they were possibly looking to invest elsewhere, and chairman Joseph DaGrosa revealed that talks had taken place with Mike Ashley, who he praised for his business savvy and being easy to deal with.
As reported by CNN, DaGrosa said there was interest and that while talks had been positive, a deal was looking unlikely. This news could be treated as a positive by some fans if they were optimistic, but it is the latest example of Ashley perhaps being stubborn and difficult to negotiate with.
Some see takeover talk as a ruse and suggest it must be in some way related to the transfer window opening up soon, as seen in these reactions.
Their feelings and lack of patience is understandable given how much takeover talk has occurred recently, with a variety of rumoured interest, from the owner of WWE to individuals from Gulf states.
What fans do know is that Ashley is still in charge and limiting ambition at the club, and they would probably rather he concentrates on backing Steve Bruce as best he can.

Loads of fans are fed up with the endless speculation regarding the club’s future and therefore there is a lack of belief in many of the stories being published, as every time a possible takeover has ended with bad news and with the club still in Ashley’s hands.
